Just a thought...

Since this is a car board, sometimes we like to show our rides, but sometimes we like to show our mods or the process as it's happening, and just wondered if it might be possible to have a section just for build threads, automotive/bike related projects as I like to see what others are also doing in the shop from time to time? LOL WUT

This sounds like a good idea. Some of the other forums I frequent have a "Car Photos" forum and a "Tech Talk/Mods" forum. It could help for those that care more about seeing shiny pics vs. those that want to read about all of those mods/repair/projects more in-depth.
For the sake of constructive debate, why do you feel that such threads are out of place in the "Your Cars" forum? Who agrees or disagrees with the premise of the thread and why?

As much input as possible is helpful.

Regional forums are on the way soon.
Well, I think the purpose of the "Your Cars" forum should be to tell everyone what you drive and to share some pics. I don't think that more in-depth technical talk about repairs/mods/etc. really fits in with the spirit of that forum.

To take your argument and go one step backwards, why don't we just say "what's the point of having any subforums?" rather than having one central GCF forum? I think you'd agree that there is enough variety to warrant separate forums so that people can logically find things and also so that they don't have to read things that don't interest them. As long as there is enough post volume to support a separate forum and the topics are different enough, I think it is worth splitting them out.
I think Schlodes, phil et al are just looking for a little differentiation--a Show and Shine subforum for pictures of cars, and a Builds subforum for detailed build threads. Whether or not we do it now, as GCF grows it will become something of a necessity in the future if the forum gets big enough.
What I was getting at, was, in the pics your cars forum, I can post pics of my cars. But I worry that if I port and polish a set of 2003 Z06 Corvette heads and I wanna post the start to finish results, [which I did just embark on lol] that it's kind of a different thing, than show ans shine even..

Or so and so buys a car like member with the old vette thats being redone it would be cool to have a section where you can go back and follow that thread...

Or, Adding big valve ported head, Holset turbo, and Megasquirt to my turbo coupe this week....

Restoring a street bike or a dirt bike or...

I just feel like I am cluttering up in correct forum areas when I post pics of ported heads when its a section for us osting pics of our cars and so I thought i'd ask...

I know and have seen what most of yas drive, be cool to see what yas got going on in the shop or things being done to your car or whatever...

Thanks for listening!
In most of the other forums I'm in people post build threads in the pic section.

Not that I'm opposed to a separate section, just sayin's all.

However I do strongly support the idea of a mods/tech section.
It was just a thought, please don't think I was complaining about how things are, I quite like this forum actually.. it was just a passing thought alot of the other forums have it, but also lots of forums I am on have way too many unused sections to which makes everything too scattered.. If it's cool posting pics of parts or projects in the one section that that's cool. Smile
There is undoubtedly some merit in this suggestion so I will talk this over with Dr.Gonzo and we will let you all know sometime soon.

Your suggestions are truly appreciated! smile2
At this time, we would like all activity related to your own car to remain in the "Your Cars" forum.

Thank you.
