My 1960 Beetle Resto
Figured I'd share my resto of my bug, I bought it almost 4 years ago, got it running again, kinda patched (hacked) the floors to be somewhat solid and drove it till last year when I was probably less than 100 miles away from falling thru the floors. With the help of a good friend who's a great welder / fabricator who's on here( he shall remain nameless bc he never wants to touch another air cooled VW after the torture this car put him thru! lol) and my Dad, this thing has taken pretty good shape over the last year
anyways onto the pics This was the car after some quick body work and a garage respray 3 years ago: ![]() ![]() Tearing into it the fall of 2010: ![]() ![]() Rot, rot, and oh, some more rot! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Back home, and solid, for the first time in many, many years with new floor pans, frame head, and just about every bit of sheet metal that was within 12'' of the ground ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Chassis painted, awaiting the 3'' narrowed adjustable front suspension beam and 3'' rear drop spring plates :-) ![]()

RE: My 1960 Beetle Resto
Love it! Are you going to keep her white or spray her another color now?

RE: My 1960 Beetle Resto
Today was spent putting on new axle boot seals, mock fitting the tranny back in, and painting up the rest of the front beam. I love POR 15...
![]() ![]() ![]() Then spent a little time tearing the engine down so I can repaint the sheet metal. This car (as im lead to believe by the PO) only has 64k original miles on it. The 36 horse is slow, and doesn't really agree with highway speeds, but its started every time for me since I've had it. I have people telling me constantly to update it to a 1600cc which has all kinds of mods ( bigger heads, cranks, dual carbs, etc), but I like the originality of a 52 year old car being powered by the factory motor, call me old fashioned :-)

RE: My 1960 Beetle Resto
What kind of paint did you use on the chassis & is it that paint can and brush in that one pic? I'm about at that stage where I am painting the nooks and crannies on my 72 and I need something for the frame head while I have the beams out.
